Preparations for this year's Beccles Charter Weekend are gathering pace.

The weekend, due to be held on July 1 and 2, celebrates the granting of the town's charter by Queen Elizabeth I.

It will be centred on seven hubs across the town - Beccles Museum, Beccles Library, St Michael's Church, Hungate Church, Beccles Town Hall, Beccles Tower and Hipersons Boatyard - where a variety of events and activities will be taking place.

These include craft displays, live music, various refreshment stands, a meet the author event, storytelling, country dancing, boat trips, historic boats and water bicycling. In addition, Beccles Open Gardens and Spaces will be running throughout the weekend, based at Beccles Museum, which this year includes some 20 gardens in Beccles and Worlingham as well as a number of spaces of interest.

Leaflets with further information are available from Town Hall and the Citizens Advice Bureau or by calling into any of the hubs.
