Two men have been charged with aggravated burglary and robbery after a pregnant woman was one of two people assaulted in Lowestoft.

Police were called to Normanshurst Close at about 9.15pm on Wednesday, January 27 to reports that several men had broken into a property.

Two people were assaulted – one of them was a pregnant woman who had to be taken to hospital for checks.

Officers attended and arrested two men who were taken into custody for questioning.

John Charlton, 36, of Normanston Drive in Lowestoft, and Tony Rand, 31, of London Road South, have since been charged with aggravated burglary and robbery – stealing items including bags, computers and a games console from the address while in possession of a knife.

Both men appeared before Norwich magistrates this morning (Friday).

They have now been remanded in custody ahead of their next court appearance on a date to be confirmed.
