Power was cut at more than 40 properties in East Rudham after power lines were knocked down by a falling tree.

The fire service attended the incident on Broomsthorpe Road at around 11.30am and made the scene safe while they waited for UK Power Networks to arrive.

Engineers were able to restore power supply to the affected homes by 3.30pm.

A spokesperson for UK Power Networks said: “UK Power Networks received a call from the fire service at 11.24am today to say a tree had come down in the Broomsthorpe Road area of East Rudham and it was affecting some of our overhead electricity distribution lines.

“Engineers sent to the site confirmed this and found 44 customers had lost power supplies as a result.

“The engineers worked as quickly and as safely as possible through the early afternoon to restore the network to its usual reliable state. The customers affected had power again at 3.24pm.”
