An Easter treat has proved to be popular once more with people across Lowestoft.
More than 1,600 Easter chicks and baskets – complete with a chocolate egg – had been specially created by Pakefield fundraiser Zoiyar Cole and friends in recent months.
After teaming up with friends to knit, crochet and create the hand-knitted chicks and baskets, and sweet treat, in time for Easter they were distributed to more than 20 shops and businesses across Waveney – with people encouraged to buy the items for a £1 donation.
Mrs Cole said she was 'amazed' to discover that a record-breaking sum of more than £1,700 had been raised.
With £1,000 being raised at Easter last year, Mrs Cole said: 'I was amazed to find that we had raised £1,730.11 for the Sandra Chapman Ward. I just want to say a big thank you to my friends and all the people involved in making them, the companies for selling the items, everyone who donated the chocolate eggs and all those who bought the eggs – I am amazed really.'
