A popular café in Hunstanton with a turnover of £1,000 a week could be auctioned – after bosses said that hundreds of people had offered to take it on since they put it up for sale.

Andrew Waddison and Jamie Knight opened Café Blah Blahh in Westgate, near Sainsbury's, about two years ago. Since then it has become a huge award-winning success, but the partners want to leave while they are on top and travel around the world.

Mr Waddison said: 'We are not really in a great rush to leave, so it could be six weeks or six months.

'We put our café on the market last week and have already had over 300 expressions of interest and six offers.

'Since we announced it we have had 10 customers crying, over 100 messages of goodwill – it's been crazy. We have had so much interest, we may have to hold an auction.'

The pair started the business from scratch and always planned to leave when they were ahead.

Mr Waddison added: 'We have been the number one café on travel website TripAdvisor for miles around in 2012, 2013 and 2014, winner of a Certificate of Excellence 2012, 2013, and Highly Commended in the EDP Norfolk Food and Drink Awards 2013.

'We have had a brilliant time here but we always wanted to travel around the world. When we leave we will have a few months off and then go on the trip.

'From our point of view, we need to make sure that whoever takes it on are the right people.'

The café celebrated the Queen's Jubilee in style with a tea party and the Queen wrote to the pair thanking them for their hard work ahead of the big day.

Mr Knight, a trained chef from Essex, is an interior designer with a background in personal shopping, while Mr Waddison, originally from Burnham Market, has worked in some of the county's top restaurants and pubs, including the Hoste Arms.

Mr Knight carried out the interior design at the café, which is being sold through Nationwide Business Sales.
