The Fairtrade Fortnight event is part of the nationwide celebration of 40 years of Traidcraft, the trading company that buys directly from small farming cooperatives and the charity which teaches farmers more efficient methods and techniques to overcome the local effects of climate change.

The 'Big Brew' offered visitors the chance to enjoy plenty of coffee, tea and chat, cakes galore, and a range of delicious delights of great quality.

Spokeswoman Janet Terry said: 'I am pleased to say that £168 of Fairtrade products were sold and a further £146 raised for Traidcraft Exchange– the charity which supports producers in the developing world. This was the 40th anniversary for Traidcraft so thanks to all for the support.'

This year Sainsbury's donated some of the ingredients for the event.
