Public sector partnership in Norfolk gets £372,000 to maximise use of buildings and land

A partnership in Norfolk has been allocated £372,000 to help public sector organisations make the most out of their land and buildings.
Norfolk’s One Public Estate partnership, which brings together the county council, district councils, several NHS bodies and police, was given the money by the Cabinet Office Government Property Unit and Local Government Association (LGA).
The One Public Estate programme aims to maximise the use of buildings and land owned by the public sector by developing joint projects to share buildings, reducing running costs, and releasing surplus and under-used land for development.
Teams from different organisations could be brought into a shared building, and land or buildings no longer needed could be sold, freeing up space for new homes and employment opportunities.
The Norfolk partnership’s allocation is the third largest in the country and part of a £7.5 million investment, awarded to 37 partnerships across England. The money will support further joint working across central and local government.
Speaking as chair of Norfolk’s One Public Estate Board, Anna Graves, who is also chief executive of Breckland Council, said: “The Norfolk partnership’s allocation will support the ongoing transformation of local services and help us turn ideas into firm proposals.
“Time and time again people tell us they want joined-up, efficient services and we are committed to making that happen.”
