We have taken a look at thousands of expense claims put in by MPs in 2015-16.

Published by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), they show Norfolk and Waveney politicians claimed £60,000 more in expenses compared to the year before, a total of £1.72m.

That included outgoing Norwich South MP Simon Wright spending just over £31,000 in 'windup spend' after losing his seat in May 2015.

After staff costs, the biggest single expense claims for most MPs were for a subscription to parliamentary support bodies.

Conservative MPs expensed around £3,000 each a year for Policy Research Unit (PRU) membership.

That body is open to all Conservative MPs to join and pools researchers and staff so MPs do not have to employ their own researchers.

There is a Liberal Democrat equivalent called the Parliamentary Support Team (PST), which was the largest single expense for North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb.

•Richard Bacon, MP for South Norfolk

Mr Bacon claimed the most of all the Norfolk and Waveney MPs. He expensed just over £10,000 for transport. This included the smallest claim of 63p for travelling in Costessey in November last year.

His office also claimed £1690 for two Apple MacBook Airs.

Like many MPs, his single biggest claim was for a his PRU subscription at the cost of £2,977.

Mr Bacon also claimed around £21,000 for accommodation.

Mr Bacon said: 'The new system works reasonably well and I have no complaints about it. In my office, we manage the budget very carefully in order to get the most out of it in terms of staff and equipment, so that we can do the most to help our constituents.'

•George Freeman, MP for Mid Norfolk

Mr Freeman claimed the most for accommodation at £25,449. This was mainly for renting a flat in London at £2,816 a month.

His office also spent £720 on staff hotel stays over the year.

•Henry Bellingham, MP for North West Norfolk

Conservative MP Mr Bellingham claimed the most for staff costs at £142,000.

His largest expense after that was £3,023 for his PRU subscription, while his smallest claim was 10p for office stationary.

•Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk

The Liberal Democrat MP claimed £5,000 for a PST subscription and just under £11,000 for hotel stays, with £600 being his most expensive single hotel claim.

His office also claimed £140 for waste sacks.

He expensed £88.35 for tea and coffee and washing up liquid for his constituency office and £16.74 on paint for office decoration.

•Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North

Ms Smith claimed £3,078 for her PRU membership. While this was her second largest single expense, she made a number of smaller claims for things such as an iPad cover, at the cost of £30, and £1,252 for print cartridges.

•Elizabeth Truss, MP for South West Norfolk

Ms Truss' biggest single expense of £2,977 was for her PRU subscription. The Secretary of State for Justice also spent £600 on website fees and she expensed £19.99 for a new kettle. Her smallest expense for the year was £1.26 for postage.

In 2015 she was criticised for expensing £3,200 for four nights at a hotel in China. This year her office expensed just £143 for a staff member to stay in a hotel in London.

•Peter Aldous, MP for Waveney

Mr Aldous claimed the most out of Norfolk and Waveney's serving MPs for office expenses at £25,000.

He claimed £11,620 for staying in hotels in London over the year while the smallest expense he put in was 85p for petrol.

•Clive Lewis, MP for Norwich South

As a new MP, Mr Lewis had start up costs for setting up his office of just under £6,000.

This included £33.98 for a small office vacuum, £2.99 for staples, as well as £1.49 for a plastic wallet and £1.49 for a shorthand notebook.

He also expensed £1.20 for juice during a Paris Climate Change trip.

He expensed just over £2,000 for hotels in London over the year and just under £2,000 for one month's rent for a London flat.

•Brandon Lewis, MP for Great Yarmouth

Mr Lewis spent £6407 on hotels. In 2015 the former housing minister was defended having expensed almost £15,000 for London hotel stays from 2014-15. This year his claims for accommodation were the fourth largest for Norfolk and Waveney MPs. They included £8,600 on rented accommodation

His smallest expense was £4.22 on stationary. He spent £542 on a shredder and £312 on blinds.

•Keith Simpson, MP for Broadland

Mr Simpson, who was first elected to Parliament in 1997, claimed the least amount for staff costs out of Norfolk's MPs, at £97,000. In the months after a new expense system came in to place in 2010 after the parliamentary expenses scandal, he returned the largest expense bill in the county. But this year Mr Simpson also had the cheapest office expenses in Norfolk and Waveney at £12,118. He expensed around £20,000 on rented accommodation.

His smallest single expense was £2.11 for constituency correspondence.

•Simon Wright, Former Norwich South MP

Most of the Liberal Democrat's expenses were for the costs of winding up his office after losing his Norwich South seat to Clive Lewis in the 2015 General Election. He spent just over £31,000 on 'winding up' expenses, which included staff costs and office rent.
