A new campsite with 30 pitches for touring caravans could be built on agricultural land in north Norfolk.

The proposal also includes the change of use and conversion of a derelict piggery building into a toilet and shower block, one self-catering unit and an ancillary cafe.

The change of use of the field at Oak Farm, Norwich Road, Smallburgh, is on land south of the main A1151. There is also provision for 32 car parking spaces on the site, which measures 1.3 hectares, and a proposed outdoor play space.

A design and access statement submitted with the application states: "The proposed conversion of the piggery will enable an under-utilised building to be brought back into use. The site is well located in relation to the local public transport infrastructure. The mature trees and vegetation around the perimeter of the site ensure it is relatively well contained within its landscape setting."
