An election hopeful is hoping to be the first Labour MP in North Norfolk since the 1970s.
Emma Corlett, county councillor for the Town Close, Norwich division and deputy leader of the Labour group at County Hall, has been selected to represent the party in the North Norfolk constituency.
She will be contesting the seat vacated by Liberal Democrat Norman Lamb, who is standing down after more than a decade as an MP.
She said: "I think the general election's going to be very different from other years. Up until 1970 North Norfolk was represented by a Labour MP."
One of the key issues on election day, December 12 will be Brexit and she stands with the national party on wanting to give people a final say.
She said: "I'm a democrat, and used to be a trades union representative. I think we should go back to the people to have a final say, with two options on the table, a leave deal versus Remain."
Tackling climate change, building more council houses and investment in infrastructure are other key issues, she said.
And with a background in mental health nursing, she also wants more money invested in services. For her own mental wellbeing, she swims regularly in the North Sea at Mundesley.
She grew up in rural Suffolk and moved to Norfolk in 1996 to work as a mental health nurse, which she did for 20 years.
She said: "North Norfolk is an area I know particularly well. I was a community youth mental health nurse in the area from 2003 to 2016."
She believes voters want someone who is authentic and passionate, and rooted in how people live their lives.
"I never expected to be standing as an MP but I have been strongly encouraged by people for a long time," she added.
She believes that she can only influence matters by becoming an MP.
"Being the best nurse cannot make enough difference, and you cannot effect enough change as a county councillor, the way it is."
The 44-year-old mother of one lives in Norwich with her partner of 20 years, and their 14-year-old daughter.
The other election candidates in North Norfolk are Duncan Baker, Conservatives, Karen Ward, Lib Dems, Mark Taylor, Greens, and Harry Gwynne, Brexit.
