A collapsed bridge has resulted in emergency roadworks for two weeks.

Works costing £40,000 are due to start today in the village of Burston, near Diss, on the accident-damaged parapet wall on Shimpling Bridge.

The bridge is located approximately 160m west from the junction of Southmill Road and The Street.

Diss Town Council said in a public notice that there will be a diversion via Shelfanger Road (B1077) with three way traffic lights at its junction with Sunnyside.

The works are expected to last two weeks, during which pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained at all times.

Norfolk County Council has apologised for any inconvenience.
