Ninety new homes and a primary school to the west of Cromer are proposed as part of North Norfolk District Council's (NNDC) draft local plan.

Land at Runton Road/Clifton Park, between Cromer and East Runton, has been allocated for a mixed use development including green open spaces, and NNDC is looking for comments on the document.

The draft local plan states: "The land amounting to approximately eight hectares is proposed to be allocated for mixed use development comprising approximately 90 dwellings inclusive of affordable homes and self-build plots, public open space, the provision of two hectares of serviced land for a two-form entry primary school with a potential reserve site for future expansion, and associated on and off site infrastructure."

The greenfield site is bounded by residential development at Clifton Park and the railway line to the south.

The document continues: "It is beyond the existing built-up area of the town but is only approximately 1km from the town centre.

"This site is considered a suitable location for a new school and could accommodate this along with new housing and areas of public open space."

People have expressed mixed views on social media. One person said that it could lead to Cromer and East Runton joining up, while others are broadly in favour of the plans.

The North Norfolk Local plan 2016-36 sets out the long-term vision for the district and identifies where new homes, jobs and infrastructure will be created.

About 11,000 more people are expected to live in the district by 2036 and Karen Ward, NNDC's cabinet portfolio holder for planning, planning policy and housing, said: "This is your district and we want to know what matters to you.

"We have some difficult choices to make about our land use over the next 20 years and we are interested to learn what you would want us to prioritise. We will consider the comments you make, amend the plan, and then consult again before we submit the final plan for independent examination."

The consultation runs until June 19. To make a comment, visit //consult.north-norfolk.gov.uk/portal
