A group which raises awareness about climate change has criticised the decision to pump more money into the budget for the Norwich Northern Distributor Road.

Norfolk County Council has agreed to add £19.3m to the budget for the 12.5-mile road, which will stretch from the A47 at Postwick to the A1067 Fakenham Road when complete.

But some £7m of that cash comes from money which had been earmarked for investment in renewable energy.

And members of CHAIN (Climate Hope Action in Norfolk) have called on the council to rethink the decision and undertake a review of the council's approach to climate change in future decision-making.

Martin Wilby, chairman of the environmental development and transport committee at Norfolk County Council, said when the decision was made that the NDR would deliver 'huge benefits' to Norfolk.
