A restaurant promising “village cricket pavilion pottiness” has been given permission to move into a former city centre bank.
National chain Cosy Club has received the green light from Norwich City Council to move into the former NatWest on London Street.
The grade II listed building closed as a bank more than a year ago and has been empty ever since.
However, the restaurant chain, described by its spokesman as “aristocratic abundance with a dash of local village cricket pavilion pottiness” is now to take on the building.
Members of the city council’s planning committee approved the chain’s application to change the use of the building into its latest site, which will be its first in Norfolk.
However, committee member Julie Brociek-Coulton did say she was disappointed baby changing facilities had not been factored into the plans.
A spokesman for Cosy Club said the restaurant would open in 2019.
