Two more of our region's MPs have been handed top government positions as new Prime Minister Theresa May's cabinet reshuffle continued today.

Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis has been appointed Minister of State for Policing and the Fire Service at the Home Office, while Matthew Hancock, MP for West Suffolk, has been made Minister of State responsible for digital policy at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Mr Lewis was fire minister when he was a junior minister at the Department of Communities and Local Government. Responsibility for fire services was moved to the Home Office - Theresa May's old department - in January as part of a push to see closer working between the two blue light services.

Meanwhile, Brexit-backing Penny Mordaunt was moved from the Ministry of Defence to become a Minister of State for Work and Pensions, with her previous role going to Mike Penning, formerly at the Home Office.

The cull of Cameron allies continued as arts minister Ed Vaizey announced he has left the Government.

In a tweet, Mr Vaizey said: 'Looking forward to supporting the Government from the backbenches £vexit.'
