Measures have been taken to brighten a new pedestrian crossing on the busiest road in Diss after fears it was unsafe because it was too dark.
Work to replace the traffic lights pedestrian crossing outside Diss Leisure Centre on Victoria Road with a more cost-effective zebra crossing lit with belisha beacons was completed in November.
However the changes led to fears that it is too dark for motorists to see people using the new pedestrian and cycle crossing.
Highways engineers subsequently revisited the site to assess whether extra lighting was needed after the issue was raised by Diss county councillor Keith Kiddie.
The two streetlights nearest to the crossing have now had white lights installed to the replace orange bulbs meaning they now cast a brighter glow.
Norfolk County Council's Safety Audit team concluded the £150,000 cost of replacing the previous traffic lights at the crossing was not viable due to the low footfall of people using it.
