The Just Dual It! campaign, which aims to put pressure on the government to fully dual the A47, has been nominated for an award.
The campaign, run by the Eastern Daily Press, Norfolk County Council and the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, has been shortlisted in the best regional campaign category at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ Pride Awards.
Martin Wilby, chairman of Norfolk County Council’s environment, development and transport committee and chairman of the A47 Alliance, said: “Just Dual It! being shortlisted in the Best Regional Campaign category is a credit to how organisations and individuals across the region have united behind the call to get the A47 fully dualled.
“Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk have all come together to champion this cause and I’d like to thank everyone who has backed the campaign for their support – and rest assured we’ll keep pushing until the whole of the road is dual carriageway.”
The winning campaign will be announced at a ceremony in November.
Norfolk County Council, which submitted the campaign for the awards has also been nominated in three other categories:
Best public sector campaign – Changing the script on Mental Health. That was a campaign run in partnership with Norwich Theatre Royal to harness the power of drama and performance to convey messages about mental health, to normalise and get people talking openly about it.
Best event – “Tackling loneliness one day at a time” (In Good Company loneliness summit). Norfolk’s first summit on loneliness, designed to engage with key decision makers, businesses and communities and persuade them to help tackle the issue of loneliness at a local level.
Young Communicator of the Year – James Hyde. Communications assistant from Norfolk County Council, currently acting up as communications officer.
