Police warning over ‘anti-bullying campaign’ cold callers

Police have warned businesses about cold calls from someone asking for support for an anti-bullying campaign.

A company in the Norwich area was yesterday telephoned by someone claiming to be from the police.

After saying they were seeking support for an anti-bullying campaign, the caller asked for the company's bank account details, at which point the manager challenged them.

The cold caller made excuses about the line being bad before ending the call.

Police told workers to be vigilant when dealing with cold callers, and said genuine police officers/staff would not approach companies in this manner.

Anyone with concerns about such calls should contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
