Police have urged festival-goers to think about their safety and the security of their possessions ahead of Latitude.

The music and arts festival takes place at Henham Park, near Southwold, between Thursday, July 13 and Sunday, 16 July, with attendance this year set to reach 40,000.

Officers are warning that the relaxed atmosphere means it is easy to forget about safety and security, making it attractive to those looking to take advantage of unwitting visitors.

The main crime at UK festivals is theft, with many offences occurring on the first night when campers are settling in and have not made plans for their security.

Other thefts have taken place while people had their attention diverted during performances.

Police have also highlighted that visitors should avoid going off alone with someone they have just met, particularly if alcohol is involved.

Any suspicious activity on site should be reported to security or stewards. In an emergency, if you believe a crime is in progress, dial 999.
