Nearly 40 vehicles were stopped and checked by police on the Suffolk and Norfolk border on Monday.

The joint operation from police forces from both counties saw motorists stopped in and around Beccles after being identified by Automated Number Plate Recognition technology.

It was part of Operation Identify which is aimed at stopping people suspected of crime, in particular metal related thefts, who were crossing the county border.

In total 38 vehicles were stopped with people dealt with for a range of offences including driving with a fraudulent vehicle excise licence, possession of cannabis, and driving with no insurance. Six vehicles were also seized for being used with no insurance or licence.
