Exactly a week after a young policeman was assaulted on Lowestoft seafront, officers returned to the scene on Friday hoping to gather more information.
An officer in his early 20s was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken jaw in the vicious attack at 10.45pm on August 3.
Eight of his colleagues carried out the “anniversary check” exercise on the promenade at Marine Parade between 9pm and midnight to talk to workers and visitors who may have seen the previous week's violence.
Det Sgt Matt Bodmer, of Lowestoft CID, said: “We spoke to 60 people who gave us some useful information which we are working on now. It supports what we already knew about the incident.”
Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested last week and bailed to return to Lowestoft police station on September 19.
Anyone with information should contact Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
