Norfolk police have said they are aware of a number of issues that allegedly took place in Fakenham over the bank holiday weekend.

Over the past week residents have taken to social media to complain about various disruptions in the town.

Police said that only two crimes were reported to them over this period, including a theft at a supermarket and an assault where a woman was spat at by a young boy.

A spokesperson for the police said: 'Officers were in close contact with the landlords of public houses in the town and a visible policing presence was provided to assist with any potential issues.'

They added that they have been actively talking to people in the community, including business users and those engaged in social media to address any concerns.

They added: 'We will continue to work and reassure the local community, but ask residents who have any concerns to call police on 101.'
