THREE men have been arrested after a cannabis factory with an estimated yield value of 'around 300,000' was uncovered in Lowestoft.

Officers from the Territorial Support Team, based in the town, were involved in the raid on premises in Whapload Road in Lowestoft yesterday (Saturday, January 14).

Police attended the premises after receiving information that the building may be being used to grow the drug.

The officers managed to gain entry to the unit and discovered more than 600 cannabis plants and over 100 seedlings inside, along with a substantial growing set-up. The cannabis is estimated to have a yield value of around 300,000.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and further enquiries led to the arrest of two others - a 64-year-old from Great Yarmouth and a 40-year-old man, also from Great Yarmouth.

All three were taken into custody at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre where they were interviewed by officers before being bailed to return to police on March 21, while further enquiries are carried out.

A police spokesman said it was a drugs operation on a 'massive scale.'
