Police are investigating after a fire broke out at Cromer High School early this morning.

A fire engine from Cromer and one from Sheringham were called to the blaze at 7.45, as well as an aerial ladder brought in from Earlham.

Just over half an hour after arriving on the scene they had put out the flames using hose reel jets.

David Fincham, chair of the board of governors at the school, said that the damage was limited.

'It's a very small one in the sports hall,' he said.

'I went for a brief visit and it doesn't look serious at all.'

He said that the school would be open as usual on Monday.

There were no casualties, but Norfolk police said they were making inquiries.
