A joint investigation is continuing in Gorleston following the death of a child who was thrown from a bouncy castle.

The investigation is being coordinated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) local authority and police.

Police were called to Lower Esplanade in Gorleston yesterday at around 11.15am following reports a child had been thrown from a bouncy castle.

The young girl was taken to the James Paget Hospital but died.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A Home Office post mortem examination is due to take place this afternoon to determine the cause of her death.

A police cordon has been put in place at the scene while enquiries continue and it is likely to remain in place for the rest of the day.
