Police are hunting a gang of men who carried out a series of unprovoked attacks in a Norfolk market town.

Four people in Dereham were assaulted in just one hour by the men, who are believed to be in their late teens and early 20s. The assaults happened between midnight on Saturday and 1am on Sunday.

In each case the victims were walking along when the men pulled up in a red or dark-coloured car.

Between midnight and 12.30am a 17-year-old boy was kicked and punched by three men who had been travelling in a dark hatchback along Withburga Lane.

At 12.30am two boys in their mid-teens were assaulted by a group of youths who pulled up behind them in a dark-coloured car as they walked along Yaxham Road, Toftwood.

Just after 12.45am a 19-year-old man was punched in the face by one of two men who had jumped out of a red car at the Commercial Road and Yaxham Road mini roundabout.

There were also reports of a red vehicle tailgating a moped the same evening.

The attackers were white, possibly wearing tracksuits and trainers.

Police believe the attacks to be linked. Anyone with information should contact PC Neil Mitchell at Dereham on 0845 456 4567.
