FARMWORKERS discovered the body of a man believed to be in his 70s while harvesting a celery field near Scratby earlier today.

The eastern European labourers made the find on a muddy area close to a grass mound in the field at Halls Farm in Scratby at around 3pm.

The workers were harvesting the crop on the land owned by farmer Peter Starling when they found the corpse at the Hemsby end of the 30 acre site close to Sundowner Holiday Park and the main Yarmouth Road leading to Hemsby.

A police spokesman said: 'Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death but at this stage it is being described as unexplained.'

The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place soon.

No further information about the deceased has been released.
