A 17-year-old has been charged with escaping from lawful custody.
He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning, after being detained in police custody tonight.
A police helicopter had circled over Gorleston on Tuesday evening, February 11.
A number of units, including a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter based in Wattisham, were deployed to the James Paget University Hospital between 7pm and 8pm during a search.
Following a search, a youth was detained within half a mile of the hospital grounds.
Police said that further enquiries are currently under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
