A committee in north Norfolk is among groups across East Anglia hoping to receive a cash boost from the EDP's Community Chest campaign.

The money will go towards the committee in charge of the playing field and village hall in Bodham.

The playing field, on the A148, is home to six teams that play regularly. Four of which are from the East Coast Warriors and two are from the Cromer Old Boys.

Harry Bruford, vice chairman, said: 'If we are successful, we are going to try and purchase a sit on mower to maintain the area around the play and exercise equipment.'

The grass is currently being maintained by someone from Kelling Holiday Park, but the committee feels it needs to be done more regularly.

The chest will be propped up on the bar of the Red Hart Inn, on The Street, for those who collect the tokens to contribute.

Mr Bruford said: 'We encourage those who could collect the tokens to go into the pub to pop them in the box throughout February. Alternatively you can give them to a member of the committee, just call me on 01263 588122 or chairman Mike Sayer on 01263 588228 for any information.'

The committee is also hoping to use another chest in March for the village hall.

This will be used to improve the cinema facilities in the hall for the showings each fortnight.

The EDP, in association with the Norfolk Community Foundation, will be giving away £100,000 throughout 2016.

The first beneficiaries of the community chest campaign will be announced this month.

In January there will be £15,000 on offer and 60 local organisations could get £250 apiece.

To put yourself in line for a cash boost, all you need to do is collect tokens printed daily on the back page of the EDP.
