A car park in a Broads village could be extended to take in dozens of more vehicles.

The full application from Acle Recreation Centre has been submitted to Broadland District Council’s planning department.

If approved, an 800sqm grassed area on Bridewell Lane, next to Acle Recreation Centre, could be turned into 150 extra spaces for cars.

The area is at the top of the current recreation centre car parks.

According to the planning application, the land which could be converted has been an unused grass area for the past 40 years.

It is not home to any protected and priority species and habitats and does not have any biodiversity or important geological conservation features.

There are also no trees, hedges or buildings on the site.

If the plan is approved the grass would be removed and excavated and replaced with hardcore.
