Developers hoping to build on the former Florida Group site in Gorleston must go back to the drawing board after the application was rejected by councillors.

At a meeting of Great Yarmouth Borough Council's development control committee, councillors ran the rule over an application to redevelop land on Bells Marsh Road to add 13 new homes to the site.

If approved, the plans would have seen homes built on the 2,192m/sq site, which faced six separate objections from neighbours.

However, the applicant will now have to prepare an alternative plan, after councillors rejected the application.

Ronald Hanton, vice chairman of the development control committee, said the application had primarily been rejected due to potential flooding issues.
