Thetford, Dereham and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are among the destinations which will be considered for an Attleborough link.

Steve Royal, operations manager at Konectbus, addressed Attleborough Town councillors about their willingness to expand services to the area.

His visit to town hall during Monday's planning and highways committee meeting was prompted by Councillor Anthony Busk, who called for more bus routes at a Norfolk Bus Forum meeting in October.

Mr Royal said: 'We've identified the A11 as a growth corridor.

'We've got some ideas being talked about and now the discussion can move forward.'

Mr Busk said he would be interested to hear more ideas from the Attleborough residents about potential new bus routes.

He said: 'Dereham, Thetford and the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital are some ideas, but what is needed now is a response from the public.

'Another aspect is the possibility of a Konectbus coach service going down to London in competition with National Express. We'd like to hear the public's thoughts on that.'

Currently, bus services connecting the town include the Konectbus X6, which takes the A11 to Norwich, and other Konectbus services which go via Wymondham.

First buses also runs services between Attleborough and Norwich at least every 30 minutes from Monday to Saturday and hourly on Sundays. First has both direct buses and services that go via Wymondham.
