FOR the first time in the history of the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival, the flying spectacular took place over a weekend.
The 16th annual Lowestoft airshow attracted 200,000 people on the first day - with the crowds entertained by more than four hours of flying.
The show opened at 12.54pm with the Royal Air Force Typhoon, and the world-famous Red Arrows were set to close the show at about 4.50pm - but aircraft enthusiasts were given a special treat as the Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight arrived in Lowestoft to close the opening day.
Organisers expressed their delight as 200,000 people flocked to town for the first day.
And the rain held off to keep everyone happy, as the wet weather only arrived just after the displays had ended.
With the second day of the show taking place today (Sunday), more displays are scheduled to take to the skies - and the call to all has gone out to turn out and back the show to keep Lowestoft flying!
