Picture: Car cut off by high tide at Blakeney

This is the moment when a picturesque parking space turned into a lake with a view in North Norfolk.

The top-of-the-range Audi would have had to be a James Bond-style amphibious car to get out of this when the North Sea swept across the car park and road at Blakeney quay on Sunday morning.

The car's owner appears to have been caught out by the water, which overtopped the quay during some of the highest tides of the year at the weekend.

Paul Bunyard, from Rugby, was in the village to photograph barn owls when he saw the sorry scene.

He said: 'I thought it was worth getting a photograph. The driver obviously didn't know it was coming. I looked at the Blakeney webcam later on the internet and saw the car being recovered.'

Such high tides are not unusual in Blakeney, and flood the car park and road about three or four times each year.
