Sessions for a new paddle sport will be held regularly in Beccles after two trial events proved overwhelmingly popular.

Pickleball sessions will be running each Saturday, 10am till noon, from November 11, at The Venue in Sir John Leman High School.

A spokesman for The Venue said: 'The game is suitable for players of all ages and has been particularly popular with the older generation.

'It is played over a net with paddles and lightweight balls.

'The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a fast-paced competitive game for experienced players.'

The Venue, formally Beccles Sports Centre, have purchased the equipment required to make the game available to all those who wish to play.

Saturday morning sessions will be led by Jeff Van Der Hulst, a Pickleball coach and enthusiast, while Pickleball courts can be hired at all times.

Bookings for all sessions can be made by calling The Venue on 01502 712039.
