Morris dancers and a Best Dressed Dog show were among the highlights at this year's Pulham Market Carnival, held over the weekend.

And a 600-strong crowd took advantage of a sunny and warm late summer's day to watch the parade through the village, which this year had a Royal theme to coincide with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

However, John Hulse, one of the carnival organisers, said only half the expected eight floats participated in the procession, with a number pulling out at the last minute.

Of those that did take part, Pulham Primary School, Pulham Playgroup, the Falcon Inn and Pulham Players drama group were represented.

The 42nd carnival ended with a fun day on the village green, which included displays by Norwich-based Fiddlesticks morris dancing and the Southwold and Reydon Marching Band, as well as the best dressed dog competition, over 20 stalls hosted by charities and community groups, stilt walkers, face painting and a bucking bronco bouncy castle.

There was also due to be a tug-of-war between the two village pubs.

Money raised at the carnival was due to go to the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Cancer Research UK.

Mr Hulse said: 'The crowd was definitely more than last year. I think we picked the right weekend weather-wise.'
