A charity trek in the grand canyon by a six-strong team of women from north Norfolk has raised about 6,000 for Epilespy Research in memory of a local schoolgirl - twice the original target.

The Arizona adventure was by family and friends of Cromer youngster Ellen Mezzetti, who died from a seizure aged just 16 in 2006.

Mum Lynne was joined by Ellen's aunts Vicki Bumphrey, Maria Baker and Jo Mezzetti along with friends Sharon Jones and Sam Hele.

Mrs Bumphrey said highlights of the 'fun but challenging' tour were a 200ft climb down a cliff face at Mooney Falls, leaping into waterfalls, and sleeping under the stars.

The trek took the amount raised in Ellen's memory to 55,000, she added.
