The life of a Land Army girl was brought to life when schoolchildren visited a Norfolk museum.
Pupils from Arden Grove Infant and Primary School in Norwich joined land army girl Olive Crosswell in the fields at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, near Dereham, yesterday.
The youngsters donned First World War outfits as they tried their hands at sowing seeds, stone picking and bird scaring.
They also had the chance to learn working rhymes, explore the farm and experience a wartime classroom.
The trip was part of the To End All Wars project, a Norwich Theatre Royal-led scheme involving children from four different schools.
As part of the project, the schoolchildren are learning about ordinary people living in the county during the Great War. Their experiences will form the basis of a special performance at the theatre in August.
Project manager Fiona Roberts said: 'It brings it to life for them and it means they can really identify with something in a tangible way.'
The project is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and Norfolk County Council.
