Parade through town as the lights turned on for festive season

Christmas arrived in Hunstanton on Sunday when the town turned out in force for an afternoon of fun and games before the festive lights were officially switched-on.

Stalls were set out on the streets while Santa welcome visitors to his Westgate grotto.

Musical entertainment added to the Christmas feel while a parade including illuminated Mini cars and Honda Goldwing motorcycles made a spectacle for residents and visitors.

A group of town firemen pulled a 9.5 tonne engine for more than a mile to join the parade and raise money for charity.

They were collecting for an appeal by King's Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital to raise money for a special incubator used to transport babies between hospitals.

Firefighter Rigil Kent had special reason to support the appeal as his son Noah used a similar incubator in May when he had to be transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, from Lynn when he developed breathing difficulties.

Noah has made a good recovery and his dad, a full-time crew member in Lynn and a retained firefighter in Hunstanton, along with several colleagues, completed their planned route.
