Youngsters from Hillcrest primary school choir sang Christmas carols to the delight of about 40 people attending a friendship group event.

The Downham Market schoolchildren lit up the town's library with their voices yesterday.

Afterwards, Elena Parkin, community librarian, said: 'It went really well. It was the second visit of the school choir to the library, following last year.

'They sang carols, as part of the friendship group event. Altogether, there must have been about 40 people there to hear the carols, and they loved the singing.'

The Downham Market friendship group meets on alternate Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm at the library, and provides an opportunity for visitors to meet new people and make new friends. Most meetings include an activity, talk or an information and advice session.
