Hundreds of people lined the streets to welcome the Diss Carnival through the streets of the town as organisers hailed the joyous atmosphere of this year's celebrations.
An eclectic mix of bands and performers on approximately 27 floats paraded through the town centre before a fun day at the Diss Town Football Club ground, in Brewers Green Lane kicked off at noon.
Organiser Doreen Collins said the event, which took several months to organise, was 'better than last year', adding: 'I don't know whether it's because we've got a good samba band or the majorettes, but it just seemed jollier this year.'
The celebrations began the night before, with local musicians entertaining crowds at the annual Park Alive concert.
LK School of Dance at Burston got things under way on Sunday, with a display in the Market Place at 10.30am, while the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team proved to be the main attraction, with a stunning aerobatic performance at 1.30pm.
Mrs Collins said: 'It is bringing the community together.
'As an organising committee we're quite small, but we get a huge amount of support from everyone and the community gets behind us.'
She said a great deal of effort went into organising the event on the community's behalf – and that people coming to support the event by paying an entry fee to get into the fun day was vital to ensuring it is able to fund future events.
Diss mayor Keith Kiddie added: 'This is one of the great occasions when you see the community come together in a spirit of fun and comradeship.
'The response from people through the streets was great. They seemed engaged and happy, and there seemed to be a good turnout.
'I was pleasantly surprised by how many people were along Mere Street and it was great that there were lots of children's groups and dancers. There was a real eclectic mix.
'An event like this doesn't happen by magic and Doreen and her team have worked very hard to co-ordinate it.'
The reaction from those lining the route was also positive.
Jan Bevan, 42, of Diss, said: 'It's a brilliant, fantastic event that brings Diss together.
'It's important to come out and support the event.
'You've got to support the local businesses, that is what it is all about.'
Al White, 61, of Shelfanger Road, Diss, added: 'For a small market town to have an event like this, it is a very good thing. We should all support it.'
Fiona Claybrook, 41, of Bressingham, said: 'It's a great thing to do for a bit of fun with the children and it's all part of living here.'
