A large crowd gathered in Bungay town centre last night as festive lights were switched on.
Actress Matilda Zeigler, star of the BBC'S Lark Rise to Candleford, switched them on at 6.15pm. However, from much earlier in the day, people were in the town to enjoy a wide range of attractions.
To help the festive atmosphere, there were stalls including a Santa's Grotto and actors from this year's Bungay pantomime, Aladdin, at the Fisher Theatre in full costumes.
Street entertainers and carol singers kept the crowd happy and a fancy dress competition was well supported.
'It's a lovely evening which everyone looks forward to. It is very important for Bungay,' said deputy town mayor Terry Reeve.
The town's festive fun continues this weekend when all day on Sunday the traditional Bungay Street Market returns to Earsham Street, with more than 90 stalls.
