Police, fire and ambulance were called after a car crashed into a lamppost and a front garden wall on a busy road in Cromer this afternoon.

The silver Nissan Micra hit the wall on Norwich Road, not far from the junction with Overstrand Road, at about 3pm.

Eyewitnesses Terry and Margaret Keeler, who live next door to the house that was affected, said the incident was 'a shock'.

Mr Keeler said: 'I was giving a piano lesson and heard a bang. I thought Margaret had dropped the vacuum cleaner. Then we looked out and saw that there had been an accident.'

Mrs Keeler said: 'It could have been much worse. I had only just walked up that bit of the road, and the children walk along there when school finishes.'

Police directed traffic via Overstrand Road and Vicarage Road, but the car was soon moved and Norwich Road was reopened by 4pm.
