Doherty's band The Libertines have included Lowestoft's Claremont Pier in their latest tour, which will see them visit seaside towns across the country.

The chart-topping outfit, who are co-fronted by Carl Barat and the enigmatic Doherty, will visit the town as part of their 'Tiddeley Om Pom Pom Tour' in September.

They will perform at Claremont Pier on September 30, bringing such hits as Don't Look Back Into The Sun, Can't Stand Me Now and Time For Heroes with them.

The announcement comes just months after Doherty sent the rumour mill into overdrive in an interview with Q Magazine, saying he was planning on opening a seaside hotel - with Cromer touted as a potential location. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday, June 16.
