Generous golfers have raised almost £4,000 towards an innovative resource centre for people with life-limiting illnesses through a charity competition.

Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund (HCNCF) hosted its fourth annual golf day at Halesworth Golf Club at the end of August.

A putting contest and raffle were held in addition to the main competition, together raising a total of £3,936.

The money will go towards construction and running costs of the Pear Tree Centre, which will be built on land next to Cutlers Hill Surgery in Halesworth.

The centre will bring a full range of holistic services closer to home for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Ted Edwards, co-chairman of the Pear Tree Centre project, said: “We would like to thank everyone who supported our golf competition so generously. “We are delighted that we raised such a great sum which will make a real difference to people living in Halesworth and the surrounding area when the Pear Tree Centre opens next year.”
