A cancer support charity has received a boost, after a woman's fundraising has seen almost £13,000 raised over the past year.

Lucy Burne, of Little Melton, visited Star Throwers in Wymondham, after receiving treatment for cancer in 2013, and was so impressed with what she saw that she felt compelled to help.

Two fundraising events later, and Mrs Burne, 54, has raised £12,927 for the centre, which offers support, guidance and treatment for people at any stage of their cancer, the latest of which raised more than £5,000.

Mrs Burne said: 'When I visited Star Throwers after my cancer surgery in 2013 I was astonished at how much there was to learn about my operation, the histology, my options for treatment and the long list of changes I could make to avoid its return.

'I believe that many fellow cancer sufferers - and their families - can benefit from knowing about Star Throwers

'I found then to be extremely attentive and very knowing, particularly Dr Henry Mannings. I have made a number of lifestyle changes thanks completely to him and his team.'
