A man in his 70s is in a life-threatening condition after suffering a cardiac arrest at the Forum in Norwich.

The air ambulance arrived at the scene at 2.09pm, and its team escorted the man as he was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by land ambulance.

The man fell ill as the Norwich Pride parade was due to congregate on Millennium Plain, outside The Forum, for the Pride Show.

The parade was asked to pause when it reached City Hall, to allow paramedics to help the man.

One witness, who performed CPR on the man, said other members of the public helped to disperse the crowd, before the man was taken to hospital with his wife.

He said: 'The most amazing thing was members of the public, including children, helping to stop people walking through the resuscitation efforts, and to help us clear a route for the ambulance.'
