Park Radio, based in Diss, has been named by South Norfolk Council (SNC) as a COVID-19 Community Hero, an honour bestowed upon those who have gone above and beyond throughout the crisis.

The station had been left fighting for survival after advertising revenue - on which it is completely reliant - dried up, but the team carried on working from home.

And now the broadcaster, which received a welcome boost in the form of a £5,000 grant earlier this month, has been saluted by SNC for its selfless attempts to raise spirits in the area.

Station manager Chris Moyse said: “In times of crisis people ask certain questions and they often turn to local radio.

“We are humbled to think listeners and advertisers nominated us for this award and, when it is appropriate to celebrate, we will raise a glass to them.”
