A petition has been launched against plans for a 180 home development on the edge of Mulbarton.

A planning application was submitted earlier this month for 13.4ha of greenfield land off Long Lane in the village.

Mulbarton Parish Council have now submitted their opposition to the scheme and have called on residents to sign a statement backing their objections to the proposals by Welbeck Strategic Land.

In a letter to residents, the parish council says that 97pc of villagers are against the plans, according to a survey conducted by the council last July. There are also concerns about flooding, increased traffic and lack of footpaths.

The outline application includes plans for a range of different sized homes and bungalows as well as two community allotment areas and open space.
