Firefighters put out a blaze which consumed an outbuilding in a north Suffolk village this afternoon.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue service sent three teams to deal with the incident in Metfield Road, Fressingfield after being called around noon.

They were assisted by a crew from the Norfolk fire service, while Suffolk Constabulary and the East of England Ambulance Service also attended.

A spokesman for Suffolk County Council said the building, which measured approximately 6m by 4m and had a kitchen inside, was “fully involved” in the blaze and was now considered to be structurally unstable.

Suffolk Constabulary’s spokesman also described the building as “well alight”.

The crews from Framlingham, Bungay, Halesworth and Harleston were said to have had the fire extinguished by 12.50pm, but remained to check for hot spots before calling in the stop message to their control room at 1.08pm.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said it sent one rapid response vehicle to the scene where a woman in her 40s was reported to have collapsed.

However she is not believed to have sustained any injuries from the fire and was not taken to hospital.

The Environment Agency was also told about the fire.
